Henriksen’s Wishes for Near Dark
While I have tons of respect for the way Platinum Dunes has handled their big-budget horror remakes over the last few years, with the possible exception of The Amityville Horror, hearing Lance Henriksen talk about what they should do with their planned Near Dark remake is almost depressing, since it will very likely never happen.
“It’s one of my favorites, Near Dark.” the thespian told Sci Fi Wire when he was informed of the remake. “If they were smart, what they would do is get a hold of [Henriksen’s co-stars] Bill Paxton, Jenette Goldstein and me, and do something that starts as a prequel to Near Dark. They need to have a conversation with us, because, man, Billy Paxton and I have been talking about this, about what we would do, if we did a prequel. And really great stuff came up. So it would be very wise of them to connect with us.”
Henriksen and Paxton would definitely lead some much-needed street cred to the remake, which will follow hot on the heels of another Eric Red scripted original, The Hitcher. Hopefully the folks at Platinum will at least consider the idea, or if nothing else give the team a cameo, but we’ll have to wait and see as production gets closer.
Name all of Henriksen’s roles in our forums!
