FX and Hulu’s “Far Cry” series just got more exciting, as Variety reports that Lizzy Caplan (pictured above in Cobweb; Cloverfield) has joined the cast!

Variety notes that no plot details have been revealed, but the series will follow an anthology-style format, much like the games, with a different cast and story each season.

The series hails from Noah Hawley (Alien: Earth) and Rob Mac (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”), with the latter also starring.

As for Caplan, she’s appeared in quite a few genre outings, such as Cloverfield, the “Fatal Attraction” series, and Cobweb, in which she delivers an insanely unsettling performance. Though “Far Cry” is not exactly horror, it does feature some horror themes like mutants and cults, and her presence gives me hope the series will lean a little heavy in that direction.

Mac will executive produce under his More Better Productions label, with Hawley executive producing for FX and Disney Entertainment Television via 26 Keys. Also executive producing is Simon Emanuel and Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Monica Macer, Peter Calloway, John Campisi, and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The series will be produced by FX Productions.

Far Cry first arrived in 2004, developed by Crytek and published by Ubisoft. The first-person shooter became a hit and spawned a franchise with five more sequels.

Uwe Boll directed a feature adaptation in 2008 (we’ll forgive you if you never heard of it, considering the Uwe Boll of it all).

FX’s take marks the first live-action television series based on the game.

“Far Cry” is set to air on FX, Hulu, and Disney+ internationally.
