‘Hope’ – First Images from ‘The Wailing’ Director’s New Film Tease a Village in Panic

The first images from Na Hong-Jin‘s Hope have been released by Neon, teasing a film that erupts into outright panic.
In Hope Harbor, a remote village near the Demilitarized Zone, police outpost chief Bum-seok receives alarming news from locals that a tiger has appeared. As the village erupts into panic, Bum-seok is forced to confront a reality beyond belief.
Starring are Hwang Jung-min (The Wailing), Zo In-sung (Moving), Hoyeon (“Squid Game”), Michael Fassbender (The Killer), Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), Taylor Russell (Bones and All) and Cameron Britton (“Mindhunter”).
Hope marks the first feature from Hong-jin since his excellent folk horror film, The Wailing. It’s been a long time coming for the filmmaker, but with that cast and the mysterious premise, this immediately has my attention.
The film is set to play during Cannes 2026.
