[Rumor] Jenna Ortega in Talks to Star in ‘Gremlins 3’?!
Jenna Ortega is rumored to be in talks to star in Gremlins 3, as first reported by DanielRPK.
Ortega, our modern goth queen known for her roles in Scream V, Beetlejuice 2, X, and Wednesday, is reportedly in talks to headline the long-awaited third installment of the Gremlins franchise, which has remained in development limbo for over 26 years.
While DanielRPK has been a solid source for insider info, it should be stressed that she’s reportedly in talks, and we need to wait for an official announcement before celebrating with a midnight snack and a shower.
Gremlins 3 was officially announced last November with news that Chris Columbus, the original movie’s writer, will produce and direct, and that Steven Spielberg will executive produce.
Even more exciting is that Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (Final Destination Bloodlines) are writing Gremlins 3 alongside Columbus.
Gremlins (1984), directed by Joe Dante, follows a boy whose pet Mogwai, Gizmo, comes with three rules – rules that are quickly broken, unleashing chaos. The 1990 sequel underperformed, but the franchise continued with HBO Max’s 2023 animated series Gremlins: The Wild Batch.
Since Gremlins, the franchise has stood as a defining blend of horror and dark comedy, helping shape the tone of modern creature features.
Gizmo will return to theaters on November 19, 2027.
