‘Parasite’ Producer to ‘Inherit’ New Horror Film from ‘The Medium’ Director

Barunson E&A, the South Korean studio that produced Parasite, has landed international sales rights to upcoming horror film Inherit, reports Screen Daily. The film hails from Banjong Pisanthanakun, who got his big break in horror with Shutter (2004) and most recently unleashed The Medium (2021). Both are utterly terrifying.

The film is produced by Thai studio, GDH 559.

Based on the Thai horror novel Tayat Asun (1991), Inherit “centers on a wealthy family whose seemingly perfect façade begins to unravel when an ancient centipede spirit infiltrates their bloodline.”

I’m sorry, a “centipede” spirit? My skin is already crawling, especially knowing Pisanthanakun is a master at chilling to the core.

The story has previously seen TV adaptations, though this will be the first feature film based on the novel.

Inherit will star Davika Hoorne (A Useful Ghost).

Said Yoonhee Choi, CEO of Barunson E&A, “What immediately drew us to the project was its striking premise built around a cursed bloodline and a well-established piece of IP — a chilling and intriguing story. Beneath its genre framework, the film explores themes of family, guilt, and hypocrisy, giving it both emotional weight and strong international appeal. Banjong Pisanthanakun is a filmmaker with a singular voice, and we see this as the beginning of a broader creative relationship.”
