‘The Mummy’ Premiere Event to Celebrate Halfway to Halloween in 47 Cities
A new trailer was dug up for Lee Cronin‘s The Mummy this morning, and now we’re learning that the film will be part of a “Halfway to Halloween” celebration as part of a premiere event in 47 cities nationwide!
Variety reports that Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, New Line Cinema and Dolby Cinemas at AMC are partnering for a premiere event for The Mummy that will take place on April 16th at 7 p.m in 183 AMC theaters.
Said writer/director/executive producer, Lee Cronin, “I wanted to make a movie that gets under your skin in the most literal way possible. There are images in this film that are going to make you look away and not be able to stop looking at the same time. Experiencing that in Dolby, surrounded by a crowd who has no idea what’s coming, on opening night, will be unforgettable.”
Added Jason Blum, founder and CEO of Blumhouse, “Horror fans don’t wait for Halloween. They live in it all year. This year we wanted to give them something they’ve never had from Halfway to Halloween: opening night! Lee Cronin made something genuinely disturbing and we want the people who love this genre to be the first ones inside the theater together.”
I’m one of those fans who not only celebrates Halloween all year, but who can’t fucking wait for Cronin’s Evil Dead-style take on The Mummy. I fully believe him when he says this one is going to get under the skin. I say, bring it on!
