‘The Housemaid’ Sequel Set to Unveil New Secrets in December 2027

The Housemaid, starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, delivered on the erotic thrills and chills last December that audiences have been craving. After the film’s tremendous success, Lionsgate was quick to develop a sequel. Now, Variety reports that part two will hit theaters on December 17th, 2027.

As of now, that sets The Housemaid’s Secret up against Avengers: Secret Wars and Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, putting on full display the studio’s confidence in the film.

“Based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, the sequel picks up as Millie (Sweeney) — who was hired in the initial story as the live-in maid for a wealthy family with a dark secret — takes a job keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see — only to discover the truth behind the locked door that threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own.”

Joining Sweeney is returning cast member, Michele Morrone, as well as Kirsten Dunst, who I imagine will play Millie’s next nemesis.

Paul Feig is back to direct alongside screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine, who adapted the first book.

Feig will produce with Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures, Laura Fischer of Pretty Dangerous and Sweeney through Fifty-Fifty Films.

The Housemaid’s Secret begins production later this year.

Lionsgate has expressed interest in turning The Housemaid into a full-fledged franchise, so expect more if The Housemaid’s Secret is a success.
