Nintendo and Universal Set the Guinness World Record for the World’s Smallest Popcorn Container!

In a really fun promotional stunt for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Nintendo, Illumination, Universal Pictures, and Zinc Group have just set a Guinness World Record for creating the world’s smallest popcorn container (I contest this record!).
The popcorn collectible is inspired by Bowser’s tiny cauldron from the upcoming film. It’s said that this “represents the latest example of the growing role of theatrical collectibles in creating immersive cinema experiences, giving audiences a unique way to celebrate the worlds and characters they love long after the credits roll.”
The record was officially assessed and confirmed at 2:00 pm on March 17 at Universal Cinema AMC at Universal CityWalk Hollywood, where a Guinness World Records adjudicator verified the container’s dimensions and capacity. At the widest point, this popcorn container measures 2.6 inches (6.6cm), holding approximately 5–11 kernels of popcorn, making it the smallest functional popcorn vessel on record.
The precisely crafted miniature cauldron is a faithful replica of Bowser’s very mini cauldron, a playful homage to the new film, which follows Nintendo and Illumination’s 2023 record-shattering blockbuster, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. In the previous film, which earned $1.3 billion worldwide, Bowser consumed a blue star that shrank him to a miniature size, leaving the once-fearsome villain confined within a tiny castle inside Princess Peach’s castle in Mushroom Kingdom.
The collectible popcorn cauldron transforms that story element into a piece of theatrical memorabilia for fans and will go on sale from April 1 at participating cinemas, including AMC Theatres in the United States, Vue Cinemas in Taiwan, and Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) in Malaysia.
No matter, I’m pretty sure this popcorn bucket is smaller, but this is still a really fun promotion.
