These ‘Faces of Death’ Posters Are Too Graphic for Theaters

Shudder and IFC are having a little fun with their Faces of Death reimagining, creating a series of posters that are purposely too grotesque for theatrical display and then intentionally blurring the art to conceal graphic content while still hinting at disturbing imagery.

One image suggests a close-up of a blood-covered face, while another appears to show a figure standing over someone during a violent act, with visible blood in the scene.

Given the Faces of Death brand and its association with shock content, the obscured visuals likely depict explicit, serious violence or injury, with the blur serving to mask details that would otherwise be too disturbing for public display. Love. It.

Directed by CAM‘s Daniel Goldhaber, the new Faces of Death is co-written by Isa Mazze and stars Barbie FerreiraDacre MontgomeryJosie TotahCharli XCX, and Jermaine Fowler.

Faces of Death continues the exploration of the original film’s infamous ‘Is it real or not?’ conceit, as a woman (Ferreira) working as a content moderator for a major video platform discovers what appears to be re-enactments of murders from the original film. In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction or unfolding in real time.”

Faces of Death is rated R for “strong bloody violence and gore, sexual content, nudity, language, and drug use.”
