‘Final Boarding’: ‘Freaky’ and ‘Happy Death Day’ Director to Helm Screen Gems Horror Film

Christopher Landon (Freaky, Happy Death Day, Drop) is set to write and direct Final Boarding, a new supernatural horror film for Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems, based on the short story by Clarence Hammond, reports Deadline.

Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps, but Landon will work from both the short story and a previous script adaptation by Javier Gullón, whose involvement we scooped last February.

The title suggests the setting involves air travel or a flight about to depart, with the phrase “final boarding” referring to the last call for passengers before a plane leaves.

A writer, director and producer well known for his work in the horror space, Christopher Landon is coming off of Drop, a critically acclaimed mystery thriller starring Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar that Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes teamed to produce for Universal.

Also recently co-writing and producing Screen Gems’ horror comedy Heart Eyes, Christopher Landon is perhaps best known for directing Freaky and the Happy Death Day films. Instrumental in shaping the Paranormal Activity franchise at Paramount alongside Screen Gems President Ashley Brucks.
