‘Scream 8’ – Plans May Already Be In Place for the Next Sequel

Scream 7 slashes into theaters this weekend. It’ll be curious to see how the sequel performs. As many of you know, Paramount and Spyglass found themselves in hot water with the franchise fans after firing Scream 5 & 6 star Melissa Barrera following her comments on the war in Gaza. Co-star Jenna Ortega left soon after, and the original plans for Scream 7 were scrapped in favor of a new script from writer/director Kevin Williamson.
Since then, movements to boycott Scream 7 have been put into motion. We’ll have to see whether or not the sequel manages to meet box office expectations. Yet, according to Variety, another film may already be in the works.
Said the outlet, “This likely won’t be Ghostface’s final reign of terror. Insiders suggest plans are already in place for the killer’s lethal return in an eighth film. Tell the survivors to hide their families.”
Could those plans be scrapped if Scream 7 doesn’t perform well? You bet. But as of now, it sounds like Scream 8 could be coming sooner than any of us think. Like any horror villain, Ghostface just keeps coming back.
In Scream 7, when a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.
The film also stars Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Timothy Simons, and Mark Consuelos.
Scream 7 arrives in theaters (including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX) on February 27, 2026.
