‘The Bride!’ Shares Massive IMAX Poster With Frankenstein’s Monster [Featurette]

As part of the Filmed For IMAX program, The Bride! marks director Maggie Gyllenhaal’s first film made for IMAX.

We’re told that Gyllenhaal worked closely with IMAX throughout the entire filmmaking process, from pre-production through release, conducting multiple camera tests, reviewing footage at IMAX headquarters, and leveraging IMAX’s Expanded Aspect Ratios to support storytelling. From early camera tests through post-production, Gyllenhaal used IMAX as a creative language, making specific artistic and technical decisions to bring her distinctive vision to life in IMAX.

Shot with IMAX-certified digital cameras, the film features a whopping 72 minutes of IMAX’s 1.90:1 and 1.43:1 exclusive Expanded Aspect Ratio (EAR) — nearly half of its runtime. Audiences in IMAX theatres will experience more picture and greater immersion than anywhere else. At select IMAX with Laser locations, certain sequences will expand to IMAX’s towering 1.43:1 aspect ratio, delivering the largest image area available in the world.

The Bride! has been enhanced frame by frame with IMAX’s proprietary Digital Media Remastering (DMR) technology to provide unprecedented detail and clarity. The film also features a dedicated sound mix optimized specifically for IMAX theatres, bringing its loud, electrifying industrial rock score to a whole new level. With a custom sound system designed by acousticians and the largest speakers in the industry, every beat amplifies the film’s bold energy, turning The Bride! into a fully immersive experience.

With The Bride!, IMAX elevates auteur-driven storytelling by serving the narrative, not just scale. Visually striking and creatively fearless, The Bride! creates a unique aesthetic that blends black-and-white and color sequences, and leverages IMAX not just as a format, but as a core storytelling tool.
