In an article on THR, it was revealed that casting is officially underway for Sinners and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler‘s The X-Files reboot.

As for the planned reboot, expect more of the same structure.

Coogler previously told the Happy Sad Confused podcast that his new “X-Files” series will continue to have both “monsters of the week” and “overarching conspiracy” episodes.

“We intend on having both monsters of the week and also the overarching conspiracy […] it wouldn’t be X-Files if we didn’t do bothThat’s what I’m doing now. Black Panther 3 comes after that. I’m hyped, bro.”

When asked if David Duchovny or Gillian Anderson would be appearing, Coogler only stated he’s a “big fan” of both.

“I’m a big fan of Gillian’s, I’m a big fan of David’s. That’s all I can say.”

This is great news for fans of the series, which followed two FBI agents—Fox Mulder, the believer, and Dana Scully, the skeptic—as they investigated the strange and unexplained while shadowy forces worked to thwart them. The show balanced memorable standalone episodes, such as the classic “Home,” with an overarching alien-invasion mythology that gave the series cohesion and helped bridge the two feature films.

Watch this spot for more as it comes in.
