Chroma Acquires Campy Sci-Fi Horror ‘The Restoration at Grayson Manor’

Glenn McQuaid, one of the very firstV/H/S filmmakers, whom I brought on after loving his indie I Sell the Dead, is now touring his latest horror offering, The Restoration at Grayson Manor, a campy, melodramatic sci-fi horror comedy set to have its UK Premiere at FrightFest this coming March.
Ahead of the next show, Chroma announces they have acquired the film about a Irish playboy (Chris Colfer) who gets experimental nanotech hands that take on a murderous life of their own.
The film calls to mind New Line’s classic 1999 Idle Hands, which was one of Devon Sawa’s breakthrough roles.
“Irish playboy Boyd Grayson delights in bringing men home to his sprawling family estate for sex, to spite his legacy-obsessed mother, reminding her she’ll never get the grandchildren she craves.
“When an accident leaves him incapacitated, Boyd finds himself handless and helpless at the mercy of her care. Luckily, family wealth means he will be the first person in history to pilot an experimental technology: nano-tech mechanical hands controlled entirely by his subconscious.
“Soon, however, the hands begin to move on their own…”
The acquisition was negotiated by Ahbra Perry, VP of Chroma and Krisztina Laszlo of Bankside Films on behalf of the filmmakers.
“The Restoration at Grayson Manor is audacious, perverse, and emotionally ferocious,” said Ahbra Perry, VP of Chroma. “Glenn McQuaid has crafted an unsettling horror story that explores queer identity and repression, and bodily autonomy, in a way that feels both operatic and intimate. We’re thrilled to bring this film to North American audiences, and to showcase Chris Colfer’s powerful return to acting in such a daring, transformative role.”
