Hasta La Vista Baby – Netflix Cancels ‘Terminator Zero’ After One Season

After just one season, Netflix has cancelled the animated series “Terminator Zero“, reports Variety.

Said creator Mattson Tomlin through his X account, “The critical and audience reception to it was tremendous, but at the end of the day not nearly enough people watched it. I would’ve loved to deliver on the Future War I had planned in season’s 2 and 3, but I’m also very happy with how it feels contained as is.”

Continued Tomlin, “Maybe someday I’ll do a big thread about the plans I had for the full five season run. The series finale was special and it was part of my pitch to get the job. I’ve written all of the season two scripts and outlined pretty much all of season three.”

Based on the Terminator franchise created by James Cameron (Avatar), “Terminator Zero” follows, “A warrior from a post-apocalyptic future [who] travels to 1997 to protect an AI scientist being hunted by an unfeeling and indestructible cyborg.”

Voicing the English language version are André Holland, Sonoya Mizuno, Sumalee Montano, Gideon Adlon, Armani Jackson, Carter Rockwood, Rosario Dawson, and Timothy Olyphant.

Japanese animator Masashi Kudo directed.

This will certainly come as a disappointment to Terminator fans, as the show was arguably the best thing we’d gotten in that universe in a while. Hopefully someday, Tomlin will get to continue his vision. He has our fiery thumbs up of approval.
