‘Archangel’ Brings Life-and-Death Stakes for Spooky Pictures [First Look]

The EFM is heating up, and today we have a first look at Archangel, the upcoming supernatural horror that marks the directorial debut of screenwriter and comic book scribe Bryan Hill, courtesy of Variety.
It centers on a privately funded organization researching life after death that is targeted by an ancient entity trying to prevent mankind from understanding the supernatural.
Archangel stars Conor Leslie (Titans, The Man in the High Castle), Greg Hovanessian (Cardinal), and Alyshia Ochse (True Detective), with Azure Parsons (The Astronaut Wives Club) and Trevor Riley (Animal Kingdom) rounding out the key cast.
The film is the latest genre feature from the increasingly prolific collaboration between Spooky Pictures and Image Nation, two companies that just acquired my V/H/S franchise from Studio71. They’re also behind this month’s Psycho Killer, being released by 20th Century Studios.
Archangel is produced by Spooky Pictures’ Roy Lee (It, The Ring) and Steven Schneider (Insidious, Paranormal Activity), Derek Dauchy (Late Night with the Devil), and Kevlar Creative’s Julius Pryor and Bryan Hill. Executive producers are Image Nation’s Ben Ross and Spooky Pictures’ Rami Yasin.
They also note: The film is the first Spooky Pictures-Image Nation project to be based on a graphic novel series. Developed by Hill, the graphic novel will be released alongside the movie and will expand the Archangel universe!
Archangel is currently in post-production and slated for a Q4 2026 release.
