‘Predator: Badlands’ Director Dan Trachtenberg Lands Three Year Deal at Paramount

Dan Trachtenberg, the director of Prey, Predator: Badlands, and 10 Cloverfield Lane, has signed a three-year first-look directing and producing deal with Paramount Pictures.
In the deal, Trachtenberg will soon develop, direct, and produce film projects for the studio alongside his longtime producing partner Ben Rosenblatt. It marks a return to Paramount for Trachtenberg, who made his feature film debut at the studio with 10 Cloverfield Lane in 2016.
He has spent the past several years shaping the modern Predator franchise for 20th Century Studios. His most recent movie, Predator: Badlands, was released in November and became the highest-grossing film in the franchise’s history. It followed the success of Prey, the 2022 release that brought the series back to life and earned Trachtenberg Emmy nominations for directing and writing. He also directed the animated feature Predator: Killer of Killers, released earlier this year. We loved it.
Outside of the Predator films, Trachtenberg has worked extensively in television, including directing the pilot episode of the Amazon series The Boys.
Paramount executives shared praise for Trachtenberg’s ability to deliver ambitious, fan-first films. The deal continues Paramount’s recent push to align with high-profile filmmakers as the studio expands its development slate. They’ve also been nurturing Parker Finn through his Smile franchise and are set to release his new Possession reboot.
Thanks to THR for the heads up.
