Writer/director Charlie Polinger‘s debut feature, The Plague, captured the attention of critics everywhere last December. If you happened to miss the coming of age psychological horror film in theaters, it has officially surfaced onto digital today via IFC.

The film centers on an all-boys water polo camp, where a socially anxious twelve-year-old is pulled into a cruel tradition targeting an outcast with an illness they call ‘The Plague.’ But as the lines between game and reality blur, he fears the joke might be hiding something real.

Joel Edgerton, Everett Blunck, Kayo Martin and Kenny Rasmussen star.

In his review of The Plague for Dread, Matthew Jackson described it as, “a film that’ll get into your blood and set it boiling, one of those films that’ll make you squirm in your seat even after it’s over. It’s a must-see, and seems destined to fall into place as one of the finest coming-of-age horror films out there.”

Dive into The Plague on digital now. And keep an eye out for Polinger’s next film, an adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death.
