‘It: Welcome to Derry’ Season 2? HBO Boss Casey Bloys Would “Happily Do It”

It: Welcome to Derry Season One was a massive hit for HBO. The prequel series to showrunner Andy Muschietti’s It and It: Chapter Two had fans reeling as it took them deeper into the lore of Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård). Despite the success, we’re still waiting on a renewal for season 2. But the odds are growing that it’ll happen.

In an interview with Deadline revealed today, HBO boss Casey Bloys was asked why Welcome to Derry seems to be in limbo. His response? It isn’t.

“Let me say, not in limbo at all. Hardly. It was a huge success for us,” said Bloys. “Andy and Barbara (Muschietti) are hard at work trying to come up with an idea for a story they’d want to tell for another season. I would happily do it. One of the challenges is, there’s not a book that you’re basing it on, so it’s invention. They want to make sure that they have a story they’re excited to tell. So it’s not limbo other than they need to land on something they’re excited by creatively. We’ll be there.”

Andy and Barbara have already expressed some plans for a season 2 and 3. Whether or not those come to fruition remains to be seen. But it sounds like, with any luck, we won’t have to wait too long to see Pennywise terrorizing the citizens of Derry again.
