‘Faces of Death’ Teaser Trailer Feels Legitimately Dangerous; In Theaters April 2026!
It’s been almost 50 years since the original Faces of Death was released.
The 1978 underground film was a VHS cult classic that was shared amongst friends as if it were a snuff film, seemingly putting on display real footage of people actually dying in horrific ways. Over the years, it was revealed that much of Faces of Death relies on carefully staged scenes, using graphic practical effects blended with authentic footage to convincingly simulate real-life brutality. It was disturbing and traumatizing to watch. In fact, it’s a huge inspiration for the entire vibe behind my V/H/S films.
Legendary Entertainment announced several years ago plans to adapt Faces of Death into a major feature film, enlisting Cam filmmakers Isa Mazzei and Daniel Goldhaber to write and direct.

DREAD CENTRAL got our hands on the uncensored teaser trailer for the new Faces of Death with news that it will open in theaters everywhere on April 10, 2026.
The footage is nightmarish, feeling legitimately dangerous. It’s unsettling, raw, and really attempts to push the limits on what can be shown online (ya know, censorship and all).
Previously reported plot details indicated that it will revolve around a female moderator of a YouTube-like website who stumbles upon a group recreating the murders from the original film. But in the story primed for the digital age and age of online misinformation, the question faced is, are the murders real or fake?
Nathaniel Woolsey, Dacre Montgomery, and Charli xcx appear on the tapes.
The new story was conceived by Mazzei, Goldhaber, and Isabelle Link-Levy.
The late John Allan Schwartz wrote and directed the original movie.
