Trailer for Hard Boiled Thriller ‘Sicko’ Builds Towards Ultra Violence

Loco Films has come on board as the sales agent for Aitore Zholdaskali’s hard boiled thriller Sicko, which has its international premiere in the Bright Future Competition section of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, reports Variety.
Set in Almaty, the film follows a cash-strapped couple who hatch a plan to solve their money troubles, but soon become embroiled in a toxic web of social media, violent criminality and spiralling greed.
The trailer is a slow roll to ultra violence, with the closing seconds promising some extreme bloodshed!
“In pure Korean-style genre thrills, the film fuses gory violence, twists and black humor,” Loco Films’ Laurent Danielou comments. “Behind its stylish brutality lies a razor-edged social commentary on gender and late-stage capitalism, rooted specifically in today’s Kazakhstan. The film was a huge success in Kazakh cinemas.”
