Andy Muschietti Says a Supercut of ‘IT’ and ‘IT: Chapter Two’ Is Coming!

Director Andy Muschietti has been floating the idea of an extended supercut combining It and It: Chapter Two since at least 2019. And according to TheDirect, that may well finally be happening soon.

The outlet reported today on a Spanish-language interview during press for It: Welcome to Derry that you can watch below (it was originally spotted by @Stephenkingesp2 on X). During the roughly translated discussion, Muschietti and producing partner, Barbara Muschietti, revealed they hope to release a combined supercut of bothIt films. Even more exciting? The cut would include additional scenes that haven’t been filmed yet!

Said Andy Muschietti, “[A] supercut is something that’s coming, and we’ll see how this series does…”

At this time, we’re still waiting for HBO Max to renew It: Welcome to Derry. But, considering the fact that the prequel series based on Stephen King’s novel was a massive hit, we expect that to happen any day now. As it stands, Muschietti has already revealed plans for seasons 2 and 3.

Added Andy, “It’s great because it’s truly a dream to put the two films into a single narrative piece. It will possibly have a different structure and will have extra scenes, added scenes. I still have to film some of them… because they are the interstitial fabric between the pieces of the story…I think there’s interest. I think the studio is interested in funding it. We’ll see.”

With extended editions like Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair seeing success and the discussion around It and everyone’s favorite killer clown hotter than ever, now could not be a better time to release that supercut.

Stay tuned to Dread as we learn more.
