LAIKA’s Fantasy Epic ‘Wildwood’ Gets October 2026 Release

Step inside LAIKA’s world of Wildwood, where a powerful golden eagle commands the skies and magic takes flight.

The stop-motion animated feature is set to open in US cinemas on October 23, 2026, through a partnership with Fathom Entertainment, reports ScreenDaily, adding that FilmNation will introduce the title to international buyers at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin next month.

The partnership with Fathom builds on the success of its theatrical re-releases of Laika’s acclaimed features Coraline, which took $56m worldwide, and ParaNorman.

Wildwood is a tale of love, loss, sacrifice, and secrets, and of the magic you can find on your doorstep, if you’re willing to look for it. The impassable wilderness beckons.

The General, voiced by Honorary Academy Award recipient Angela Bassett, is a fierce warrior and leader of the skies.

From director Travis Knight, Wildwood is LAIKA’s next stop-motion animated feature film, based on the bestselling novel by Colin Meloy (lead singer of The Decemberists) and illustrated by Carson Ellis.

LAIKA previously shared a new teaser and revealed the Pittcock Mansion. Take a look and watch a BTS featurette here.
