Bloody ‘Nightborn’ Image – There’s Something Wrong With the Baby [Berlin]

Sundance and TIFF receive all the accolades, but the truth is, Berlin is where most horror films are discovered.
One major highlight is Nightborn (Yön Lapsi), hailing from Hatching director Hanna Bergholm.
Dread has the bloody first image from the horror, which sounds like it has shades of everything from Rosemary’s Baby to The Omen and even It’s Alive. With Bergholm at the helm, all bets are off!
In the film, Eager to start a family, Saga and Jon move to her childhood home in the Finnish forest. But after their baby is born, the couple’s dream of a perfect child turns into a nightmare – and only Saga senses the unsettling truth.
Seidi Haarla and Rupert Grint star in the film described as “a visceral, gripping and terrifying dark fable about motherhood and unconditional maternal love.”
A longer synopsis available on the sales agent website (Goodfellas) adds a little more texture:
“With dreams of starting a perfect family, Saga and her British husband Jon move to the isolated house where she spent much of her childhood, deep in the Finnish forest. But as soon as their baby is born, despite the reassurance of all around her, Saga knows there’s something terribly wrong with her son. As their marriage starts to crack, Jon struggles to support his wife, but only Saga suspects the terrible truth about her newborn.”
Nightborn will have its World Premiere next month at Berlin.
