Have You Seen Ben? Viral “Missing” Poster Indicates ‘Primate’ Sequel in the Works

Paramount Pictures is going bananas over its hit animal-gone-wild slasher, Primate, which pummeled the box office last weekend. With the film reportedly sitting at $16M before this weekend, there’s zero world in which a sequel isn’t quickly sent into development.
Horror fans knew Primate was something special (read Josh’s review) and went ape over the Johannes Roberts-directed animal slasher in which a chimpanzee infected with rabies terrorizes a bunch of teens. It had a quasi-viral moment before opening in theaters last week, and now fresh marketing seems to indicate that, much like all great slashers before it, the killer chimp (Ben) isn’t dead. He’s now missing.
Major, major spoiler: Ben’s story ends when he’s hurled over a balcony and crashes onto a wooden spike, impaled Dracula-style. The police come, and we’re left wondering if Ben is truly dead.
The “missing flyer” below was shared across socials by Roberts (“carrying his favorite Teddy” makes me tear up), who noted that the number is very real, which means this is an authentic piece of studio marketing, setting the stage for another Primate. Give it a call and see what happens…
Can you imagine a battle-damaged Ben, angrier than ever, stalking another family? I’m so ready for Primate 2: Going Bananas!
