Watch an Emotional Curry Barker Experience His ‘Obsession’ Trailer In Theaters for the First Time

One of the hottest, if not THE most anticipated horror film of the year is Curry Barker‘s festival smash hit Obsession, which sold for a whopping $15M+ out of the Toronto International Film Festival this summer.
The teaser trailer is out in the wild and playing in theaters across the country, and Barker recorded himself experiencing it for the very first time. It hits different.
In the video, shared on socials, a giddy and extremely proud Barker watches intently. Hands nervously together, he looks back at the crowd for their reaction and then giggles with his friends. It’s seriously adorable.

In the film, after breaking the mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.
Obsession is the first proper full-length feature from Curry Barker. The terrifying film stars Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, and Cooper Tomlinson in star-making turns that will have audiences talking come May 2026. Navarrette in particular delivers a jaw-dropping performance. In Josh’s 5-star review out of its TIFF world premiere, he wrote:
“Her ghoulishness has all the makings of a newly minted horror icon. I’m not exaggerating when I say this performance is genuinely startling. Think of Mikey Madison’s fireworks in Anora, then imagine she’s been bitten by a Deadite suffering from the world’s worst migraines. Her suffering is nearly as frightening as the suffering she enacts on the world around her. It’s a revelation.”
Focus Features won a massive bidding war for Obsession and will bring it to theaters nationwide on May 15.
