‘The Mummy’ Gets an Creepy Teaser Trailer That Calls Back to ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’

Warner Bros.’ New Line Cinema dropped a news bomb on us horror fans, unwrapping not only the teaser poster and first images from The Mummy, but also this newly released teaser trailer that calls all the way back to the iconic teaser trailer for New Line’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.
The biggest reveal appears to be that this mummy is female and her name is Katie, but the teaser itself carries flashes of all kinds of interesting imagery, from a small black pyramid to an Egyptian book that looks right out of director Lee Cronin‘s Evil Dead Rise. The sound design echoes the teaser trailer for the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, using the sounds of a camera to create a sense of unease in the viewer. Good stuff!
Here’s the official synopsis: The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace—eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.
Starring are Jack Reynor (Midsommar), Laia Costa (“The Wheel of Time”), May Calamawy (“Moon Knight”), Veronica Falcón (“Ozark”), May Elghety (Clash), Natalie Grace (“1923”), Shylo Molina (“The Afterparty”), and Billie Roy (Spirit Halloween: The Movie).
The Mummy will be unwrapped in theaters on April 17, 2026.
