‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Writers Team With Tim Burton on ‘Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman’ Reimagining!

I miss when directors had a style and you could debate the kinds of movies they’d be perfect for. Tim Burton is at the top of that conversation.
THR breaks some insanely huge (pun intended) news this Friday evening, revealing that the great Tim Burton is teaming with Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan, the golden screenwriting duo behind animated hit KPop Demon Hunters, on a reimagining of B-movie classic Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman!
“Released in 1958, Attack told of a wealthy heiress, fresh from a stint at a mental institution, who is turned into a giantess and then deals with her philandering husband and his no-good, money-grubbing floozy.”
“We’re obsessed with the idea of a fifty-foot woman wreaking havoc because a man did her dirty,” said the duo in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We have a feeling a lot of people will relate.”
Tim Burton’s body of work makes him an obvious contender for Attack of the 50 Foot Woman because he has always had a love for retro sci-fi. His films, such as Ed Wood, Mars Attacks!, and Beetlejuice display his skill in incorporating 1950s genre, suburbia, and dark satire at an oversized scale that makes him the ideal choice to undertake the reworking of a classic monster flick.
Burton, who is attached to direct, is also producing along with Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper. LuckyChap is also on board to produce and develop. Kai Dolbashian is executive producing. Morgan Begg is overseeing the project for LuckyChap.
