Zazie Beetz’s Favorite ‘They Will Kill You’ Moment: “A Full Blood Explosion”

The trailer for New Line Cinema’s They Will Kill You blasted online and into theaters this week, infusing several genres into one and assaulting viewers with nods to classics such as Kill Bill, You’re Next, The Raid, and even Ready or Not.
While the theatrical trailer was toned down, the online edit was bursting with gore, promising an absolute bloodbath.
Star Zazie Beetz, producers Barbara Muschietti and Andy Muschietti, and director Kirill Sokolov took to reddit to do an AMA this evening, where Beetz revealed her favorite scene, which she exclaimed “really embodied the spirit” of what they were trying to achieve.
“There was this moment where we have this like full blood explosion,” she teases. “We had been working toward it for so long. And we only got one take at it because of the clean up. And that moment really embodied the spirit of what we’re trying to do. It was one of those ‘What a fun life I get to live’ moments — just joy and absurd.”
Director Kirill recounts an epic fire stunt, teased in the first trailer.
“Zazie Beetz’s first rehearsal with a flaming axe,” he remembers. “She swung this pretty terrifying, red-hot, crackling thing, throwing stuntmen around, setting them on fire in mid-air… And she did it with such grace, as if it were just another Tuesday for her. That’s when I saw that she was a true warrior goddess, capable of anything. At that moment, our main character was born, and all my director’s fears vanished.”
“The flaming axe was practical,” Beetz laughed.
In theaters March 27, 2026, They Will Kill You unleashes a blood-soaked, high-octane horror-action-comedy in which a young woman (Zazie Beetz) must survive the night at the Virgil, a demonic cult’s mysterious and twisted death-trap of a lair, before becoming their next offering in a uniquely brazen, big screen battle of epic kills and wickedly dark humor.
Here’s the red band trailer.
