‘The Slashin’ of the Christ’ Get ‘Exorcist’ Comparison From Ice Nine Kills Vocalist Spencer Charnas
Last year, Ice Nine Kills vocalist Spencer Charnas revealed that he has been developing a religious slasher called The Slashin’ of the Christ.
With Charnas penning the screenplay, he enlisted some big horror veterans to help bring his first feature to life: Paul Soter, who worked on Super Troopers and Club Dread, co-wrote the script, while it will be co-produced by horror icon Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead). Brian Witten and Chris Nilsson produce.
“Like everything we do, there’s horror, there’s violence, but there’s a wink to the camera,” Charnas told Metal Hammer in a brand new interview. “We’re not taking ourselves too seriously, and I think the world needs a movie like this.”
Interestingly, he doesn’t think it will be offensive to Christian and even thinks they might embrace it: “I think that it might be like The Exorcist, which was touted by the Catholic Church because it showed on-screen what they’ve been talking about.”
The current status? Writing on the film is done as they are currently in discussion with several film studios and possible directors. More news soon.
