‘Black Christmas’ (2006): Watch Dread Central’s Ashliene Unwrap This Nasty Streaming Remake [Video]

Black Christmas 2006

Bob Clark’s Black Christmas (1974) remains the very best of a long line of Christmas horror films. You could even make a case for it as the greatest genre film of all time. A precursor for what would later be defined as the slasher genre, it helped to lay out the mold, wrapped in a perfectly executed (and terrifying) package. My household doesn’t get through a single December without revisiting it.

Widely beloved by audiences everywhere, it was only a matter of time before someone remade the film. That first occurred in 2006 with Glen Morgan’s Black Christmas. Far different from its predecessor, Morgan’s take heightens the gore and all-around depravity, slashing through the snow with little care for subtlety. Dread Central’s own Ashliene McMenamy has some words on the remake, as you can see in the video below.

Nailed it, Ashliene.

My favorite thing about Morgan’s Black Christmas is, as Ashliene puts it, the cast containing diva after diva after diva. Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane). Katie Cassidy (the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake). Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls). Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Michelle Trachtenberg (R.I.P., Michelle. We miss you). A who’s who of early aughts stars, all of them incredibly talented.
