‘Portrait of God’ – Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele to Produce Feature Adaptation of Viral Short

Jordan Peele and Sam Raimi are easily two of the most celebrated names presently working in the horror space. Both have brought to life iconic features that have influenced up-and-coming creators. Now, they are joining forces (in their first ever collab) to mentor an up-and-coming creator. More specifically, they will produce a feature-length adaptation of Dylan Clark’s viral short, Portrait of God.
Deadline reports that Universal Pictures won a bidding war to adapt the short, and they have tapped Clark to helm the project. Clark will co-write the script with Joe Russo (The Inheritance).

Universal is currently keeping a tight lid on the story details for the upcoming adaptation, but we do know that the short follows a woman who gets a jarring answer when she endeavors to find out what God looks like. The controversial short, which has amassed more than 8 million views on YouTube to date, challenges the idea of a merciful God. You can check it out for yourself in the player below.
At this early stage, it’s anyone’s guess as to when the film will head into production. But with the likes of Raimi and Peele involved, it’s sure to be an epic endeavor.
