‘Insidious 6’ Wraps Principal Photography, With Plans for 2026 Release

Insidious is one of the early efforts that helped put wildly successful production company Blumhouse on the map. The massive success of the first film led to a series of sequels, the latest of which just finished principal photography. Jacob Chase (Come Play), who is at the helm of the series’ sixth installment, recently shared as much via Instagram.
Chase captioned his post with the following statement: “That’s a wrap on the next chapter of Insidious. I’m wildly grateful to the cast, the crew, and for the dedication and care they put into every frame. See you in August.”
As Chase mentions, the film is poised for an August release. More specifically, the latest chapter in the hit franchise is expected to bow in theaters August 21, 2026.
Chase directed the yet untitled sequel from a screenplay he cowrote with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Johnson-McGoldrick is no stranger to the horror scene. He wrote the screenplay for Orphan and co-wrote The Conjuring 2 with Chad Hayes, Carey W. Hayes, and James Wan.
The latest chapter in the Insidious series was initially planned for a 2025 release, but was pushed to 2026 earlier this year.
Interestingly enough, we know nearly nothing at this juncture about the storyline for the next chapter in the series. We do know at this point that Brandon Perea (Nope), Amelia Eve (The Haunting of Bly Manor), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Jagged Mind), Sam Spruell (Snow White & the Huntsman), and Laura Gordon (Late Night with the Devil) will star. Not to mention, franchise mainstay Lin Shaye is also confirmed to appear.
