The Brothers Bloomquist are back with their recent horror nightmare! This time, Erik Bloomquist directs Self-Help, which he wrote with his brother, Carson Bloomquist. The duo is tackling the ever-growing world of self-help gurus and their insidious toxicity. The horror-thriller follows a college student as she infiltrates a dangerous self-actualization community after her mother becomes entangled with its enigmatic “anti-cult” leader.

We have an exclusive clip from the film ahead of its theatrical release where our hero faces off with a stranger in a clown mask who isn’t pleased she’s arrived.

In his review of the film from Chattanooga Film Festival 2025, Dread Central’s Tyler Doupé wrote:

All things considered, Self-Help is a great time at the movies. The script is well-written; the narrative is unpredictable; and the use of misdirection kept me guessing from start to finish. I’m already looking forward to rewatching this one down the road.

Madison Lintz (Prime Video’s BOSCH), Landry Bender (FULLER HOUSE), Amy Hargreaves (HOMELAND), and Jake Weber (Zack Snyder’s DAWN OF THE DEAD) star in the new film.

Following its summer festival run including FrightFest, Self-Help will be exclusively in theaters nationwide beginning this Halloween.
