Denzel Washington Stars in This “Superior action thriller” on Netflix; Don’t Miss It

Although he’s best known for his more critically acclaimed fare, Denzel Washington isn’t above slumming it in a disposable action thriller on occasion. Many fans even note that his awesome talent often elevates a by-the-numbers premise to something worthwhile and memorable.

For instance, most would agree that the setup for The Equalizer movies is somewhat formulaic. Yet, Washington’s presence as former Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant Robert McCall gives the films added depth that might well be lacking with a less capable thespian in the lead role.

I don’t know if I’d necessarily say that Washington elevates Daniel Espinosa’s 2012 actioner Safe House, but it’s still hard to deny that his involvement makes the film an appealing distraction. Those who connect with the picture often name Washington’s onscreen dynamic with costar Ryan Reynolds as one of the chief reasons the film works as well as it does.

Though I’m quite certain I’ve already made a rather convincing case, I won’t rest on my laurels. Instead, I will back up my claims with a sampling of social media responses below.

This is the setup for Safe House:

For the past year, rookie CIA agent Matt Weston (Reynolds) has been eager to prove himself while cooling his heels at an inactive South African post. He gets the chance when Tobin Frost (Washington), a turncoat operative, is brought to Weston’s safe house for debriefing. But soon after Frost’s arrival, mercenaries attack, and Weston and Frost barely escape with their lives. The two men must join forces and try to stay alive long enough to figure out who wants them dead.

I can only imagine that those passionate social media reactions have you wondering where in the world you can find the film streaming. Well, I’m pleased to say that you can currently find it on Netflix. If you’re in the mood for a breezy distraction, Safe House might just hit the spot.

That concludes this broadcast, dear reader. Keep an eye out in the near future for more noteworthy recommendations from the streaming scene as we unearth them. In the meantime, make sure to follow us on X (formerly Twitter) so you never miss out on an update.
