At the Devil’s Door Finds a Home at IFC Midnight

After a successful run at the South by Southwest Film Festival, the new film from director Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact), entitled Home, was acquired by IFC Midnight, which has just retitled it At the Devil’s Door.

Look for it on VOD/digital on August 8, with a theatrical release to follow on September 12. Additionally, At the Devil’s Door was just announced as part of the 2014 Fantasia Film Festival lineup.

Written and directed by Nicholas McCarthy, At the Devil’s Door stars Naya Rivera, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Ashley Rickards, Wyatt Russell, Ava Acres, and Daniel Roebuck.

Matt Boiselle remarked in his review of At the Devil’s Door, “The one thing that McCarthy has down pat is the ability to pace and smack a good scare directly off of your melon. The mood over the entire course of the film is dour and gray; feelings of dread hang heavy over every character at one stage or another, which only adds to the sinister issue that is at hand.”

From the synopsis:

When ambitious young real estate agent LEIGH is asked to sell a house with a checkered past, she encounters a disturbed girl who turns out to be the runaway daughter of the couple selling the property. When Leigh tries to intervene and help her, she becomes entangled with a supernatural force that soon pulls Leigh’s artist sister VERA into its web — and has sinister plans for both of them.
