‘What’s Wrong Wendy’ Trailer: New Queer Vampire Draws Blood

What's Wrong Wendy

Just like horror has always been queer, so, too, have vampire stories. Even in the most violent of fanged fiend tales, there’s generally a certain romanticism in the act of sucking blood. People find vamps sexy for a reason. The filmmaking duo of Spooky Madison and Dusty Austen (The Beast of Walton St.) get it, apparent in the trailer for their upcoming vampiric indie, What’s Wrong Wendy.

Sink your fangs into the synopsis:

Wendy Day (Madison) is an ordinary, perpetually-baked pizza delivery girl, the kind of stoner sweetheart who’s always running late but somehow still gets invited to the afterparty. Victoria Sinclair (Alexandra Boulas) has just returned to Sequoia Lake to care for her ailing mother, determined to keep her head down and avoid the ghosts of her teenage years. Then comes a midnight collision: a chance run-in, a one-night stand, and the rekindling of old high school crushes. But Wendy isn’t the same girl Victoria remembers. She’s faster now. Hungrier. Sharper. And she’s not asking before she takes a bite.

Now, watch the bloody trailer:

Described as “Jennifer’s Body meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer but gayer”, What’s Wrong Wendy sure looks like the sort of queer vampire film we can never have too many of. The gayer, the better.

The fang flick also stars Anthony Dain, Tova Weinberger, Dana Weddle, Jace Carson, Leah Voysey (Terrifier 2), and Andrew Ferchland (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

Keep an eye out for What’s Wrong Wendy as the film enters the festival circuit in 2026, with theatrical and VOD release dates TBD.
