Fresh off its World Premiere at Fantasia, Lily‑Hayes Kaufman’s documentary Occupy Cannes is headed to the Sitges Film Festival this October! To celebrate, the team has released a new poster featuring Terrifier star Catherine Corcoran alongside Comedy Central comedian Zac Amico.

The hand-painted poster, created by award-winning artist Marco Mazzoni, debuts ahead of the film’s Stiges European Premiere on October 10, 2025.

Occupy Cannes shines a spotlight on Troma’s decades-long punk-spirited presence at the Cannes Film Festival, with a focus on the company’s premiere of its trailblazing queer comedy Return to Nuke ’Em High. The film is presented through the lens of Lily‑Hayes Kaufman’s family, including Emmy-nominated cinematographer Charlotte Kaufman (The Jinx, The Alabama Solution) and producer Lisbeth Kaufman.

The film made its World Premiere at Fantasia, where Lloyd Kaufman was awarded the festival’s Indie Maverick Award. The award was presented by Fantasia’s Mitch Davis, with a heartfelt tribute delivered by Catherine Corcoran alongside Superman director James Gunn.

Gunn also appears in the film alongside fellow Troma alumni Trey Parker and Matt Stone (South Park). The documentary also features appearances by Zac Amico, Doug Sakmann, The Toxic Avenger, and Kaufman himself. Occupy Cannes asks whether defiant, unapologetic independence attracts buyers or shuts you out of the industry’s inner circle.

Presented by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz as a Troma Team Production and Saturday Candy Film, with Julie Corman and Roger Corman serving as Executive Producers, the documentary was made possible through support from the New York State Council on the Arts.

The Sitges screening arrives just as anticipation builds for the Toxic Avenger reboot, which is slated for wide theatrical release on August 29, 2025, courtesy of Cineverse.
