There have been numerous killer shark features released in the years since the unprecedented success of Jaws. Some stand as stellar executions on the formula that deliver unbridled terror. Others miss the mark in a variety of unfortunate ways. Kiah Roache-Turner (Sting) recently wrote and directed a sharksploitation flick that looks like it might just fall into the former category. The film is called Beast of War, and we’ve got a brand spanking new trailer and key art to share with you!

The film is slated to open in select theaters and on VOD on October 10, 2025. In the meantime, you can feast your eyes on the newly released trailer below.

From scoping the trailer and reading through the plot synopsis, I have a feeling this flick may just resonate. It juxtaposes killer shark action against the backdrop of war, which may work well to create a strong baseline of tension. Not to mention, the flick is very loosely inspired by real-life events, which adds an additional element of excitement to the setup. More specifically, the picture takes some of its cues from the harrowing story of a group of Australian soldiers whose ship (the HMAS Armidale) sank while crossing the Timor Sea during World War II. The shark action is fictionalized, of course, but the core setup around the sunken ship is more firmly rooted in reality.

See below for more details about the narrative behind this aquatic chiller:

When their boat is sunk while crossing the Timor Sea during World War II, a young troop of Australian soldiers must find a way to survive the harsh seas on a quickly shrinking life raft. Hundreds of miles from anywhere, they must confront interpersonal conflicts, enemy attacks, and the advances of one very large, very hungry great white shark.

In addition to dropping the trailer, our friends at Well Go USA Entertainment have also been thoughtful enough to debut the below one-sheet to whet your appetite.

The film’s core cast includes Mark Coles Smith, Sam Delich, Joel Nankervis, Sam Parsonson, Lee Tiger Halley, Maximillian Johnson, Tristan McKinnon, and Aswan Reid.

That’s just about all we’ve got for you, dear reader. If the new trailer and the key art for Beast of War have you itching to check the film out, you can do just that starting October 10, 2025.
