Don’t Miss Your Chance to Stream the Best Horror Movie of 2022 Before It Leaves Netflix

Every now and then, a horror movie comes along that upends expectations, resonates with fans, and wins over critics in a major way. Films like this make their mark and often influence the genre for the foreseeable future. The Descent is one such effort. Get Out stands as another more recent example that hit all the right notes.

An even more recent cinematic treasure that did all of the above and then some is currently streaming on Netflix. Yet, it’s not hanging around for long. In fact, the picture in question is slated for removal from the platform very soon!

Barbarian

We are talking about Zach Cregger’s game-changing breakout hit, Barbarian. This film is unpredictable and chilling and easily stands as the best horror picture of 2022. It brilliantly features moments of pitch-black comedy that offset the persistent baseline of tension that permeates the picture.

If you’re keen to experience this dynamite effort before it leaves the platform, act quickly. Your last day to stream the film on the service is August 31. Netflix will pull Barbarian from its lineup on September 1.

What happens in Barbarian?

A young woman (Georgina Campbell) discovers the rental home she booked is already occupied by a stranger. Against her better judgment, she decides to spend the night, but soon discovers there’s a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.

I’ve made my case for why this feature hits all the right notes, but perhaps I haven’t adequately convinced you. In case you’re still undecided, I’ll call in for reinforcement.

Dread Central editor-in-chief Mary Beth McAndrews is as taken with the film as I. She critiqued the film before its theatrical run and rated it 4/5 stars, saying: “Barbarian is an unpredictable, disturbing, and twisted horror experience that’ll have fans buzzing for years to come. Run to the theaters before reading this review.”

As you can see, Team Dread is completely taken with this groundbreaking effort, and we think you will be too. If you’ve somehow missed out on Barbarian thus far, there’s no time like the present to remedy that. Head over to Netflix by August 31st to see what you think!

That is absolutely everything that we’ve got for you at this juncture, dear reader. Stay tuned to the site in the near future for more timely and exciting updates on films that are coming and going from the streaming scene. Until then, you can always find me musing about movies on Threads. I am active on the platform as @FunWithHorror.
