Hulu’s ‘Alien: Earth’ Rotten Tomatoes Ratings Will Make Your Heart Burst Through Your Chest

Yesterday, FX and Hulu unleashed the long-awaited series, Alien: Earth, with a two-episode streaming premiere. Fans tuned in with nerves tingling. Some probably even looked like poor Kane just before the chest-burster ruins his lunch, pale and sweaty and a little scared. After all, the Alien franchise has a habit of disappointing fans (though I’d argue each film is at least good). Would the new series live up to expectations? Or would it once again leave us behind in frustration like that corporate jerk, Burke?

Well, if Rotten Tomatoes is anything to go by, it’s safe to say that Alien: Earth has left fans and critics alike chest-bursting with praise. At this moment, the new series is certified fresh, with a 93% score from critics and a 78% score from fans. While there may be some divide between the two groups, it’s clear that most are enjoying what the new show is hatching.

Dread’s Editor in Chief, Mary Beth McAndrews, wrote in her review that the first two episodes of Alien: Earth, “are shining achievements of gnarly sci-fi horror telling as well as incredible pieces of world-building for a universe many of us have come to know and love over the decades.

Audience member Jim A described the show on Rotten Tomatoes as “very refreshing, and a great start to a good storyline“.

Having seen it myself, I can say that fans are in for a treat with Alien: Earth. The first two episodes establish a sort of Game of Thrones set-up, where five companies (including Weyland Yutani) control Earth. They are battling for supremacy, mainly through developments in artificial intelligence. Audiences are thrown right into the fire as a ship containing aliens crashes on Earth, exploding into thrilling, bloody mayhem.

If you aren’t yet aware of Alien: Earth, the show acts as a prequel to the 1979 film, set two years before Alien after “a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth (and) a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.

Created by Noah Hawley (Legion), Alien: Earth stars Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, and Timothy Olyphant, appearing creepier than you have ever seen him (yes, even more so than in Scream 2).

Watch the first two episodes on Hulu now, with a new one dropping every Tuesday until the season finale on September 23rd, 2025. And remember, in Alien: Earth, no one can hear you scream.
