Freddy Lives: New ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ 7-Film 4K Blu-ray Set Has Been Revealed [Video]

Freddy’s back! Well, sort of. Today, we finally witnessed the unveiling of the long-awaited, brand-new 4K Blu-ray collection of the first seven films from the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, courtesy of Warner Bros. (excluding the remake—which is fine). Leaks around the web had given some hints as to what to expect with the set. Those details are now official. Below you’ll find everything you need to know about the collection, along with an announcement trailer.
If you’re a Freddy Krueger fan like me, you’ve been begging for something—anything-in the Nightmare world since that critically panned remake dropped fifteen years ago. So, the franchise finally coming to 4K UHD for the first time is certainly a dream come true. At the very least, it’s a release that is long overdue.
You cannot overstate the impact of Freddy Krueger and the A Nightmare on Elm Street films. Plucked out of legendary director Wes Craven’s worst nightmares, Freddy has haunted our dreams for decades. A notorious child killer burned to death by the parents of his victims and brought back as a dream demon from Hell, he’s on the Mount Rushmore of horror icons. He put New Line Cinema on the map. Even your parents and/or friends who dislike horror know who Freddy is. After all, every town has an Elm Street.
It’s about time Freddy’s films were given the collection they deserve.
Today’s reveal comes courtesy of Bloody Disgusting. We’ve now learned that the new 4K set includes the original seven films—A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, and Wes Craven’s New Nightmare—along with the uncut versions of A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Dream Child, and will be released on September 30, 2025… just in time for Halloween season.
I’m most excited about the fact that the set includes an alternate ending of Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare presented in anaglyph 3D—complete with 3D glasses! Now we’re playing with power.
Additionally, two brand-new special features for the set include:
Boiler Room Confessional: The king of slashers, Robert Englund, takes us on a journey through the dream world, sharing what inspired Freddy Krueger, his rise as a cultural icon, and the legacy of A Nightmare on Elm Street—plus his favorite kills, scenes, and more.
Freddy’s Footnotes: Robert Englund and original A Nightmare on Elm Street filmmakers revisit iconic scenes, revealing the movie magic and chaos behind our favorite nightmares. Pull back the curtain and relive epic moments through the eyes of those who made them.
Here are the rest of the special features you’ll be able to claw into in the collection:
