The #1 Horror Movie on Tubi Is a Polarizing Stephen King Adaptation: “It’s passed into the ‘so bad it’s good’ genre”

The wild thing about art is that nothing is universal, especially when it comes to movies. No one film will ever universally please fans and critics across the board. Case in point: Vertigo, which is widely considered one of the best movies ever made, doesn’t have a perfect critical score or user rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Inversely, there are plenty of objectively bad movies that still have a fan base. For instance, there are at least a handful of people who profess a profound appreciation for Howard the Duck.
Much of this comes down to subjectivity. What frame of mind are we in when watching a particular film? Maybe there is something about a movie that most consider bad that we find appealing and that something overshadows its flaws. Or, perhaps there is something upsetting about a film most consider great that keeps us from evaluating it for its ample merits.
With subjectivity in mind, it should come as no surprise that films like Lawrence Kasdan’s Dreamcatcher has its fair share of fans. Though the flick was a box office disappointment and largely derided by critics upon release, this feature still resonates with some. That much is evidenced by the picture finding new life on Tubi of late. In fact, Dreamcatcher is presently the #1 horror film on Tubi, claiming the #2 chart position overall.
What is Dreamcatcher about?
Dreamcatcher tells of four young friends who perform a heroic act and are changed forever by the uncanny powers they gain in return. Years later the friends, now men, are on a hunting trip in the Maine woods when they are overtaken by a blizzard in which something much more ominous moves. Challenged to stop an alien force, the friends must first prevent the slaughter of innocent civilians by a military vigilante, then overcome a threat to the bond between them.
That’s enough from me, why don’t we change gears and let those who have a soft spot for the film despite its unorthodox inclusion of s–t weasels take center stage. You can scope a variety of lukewarm to enthusiastic responses from social media users directly below!
There you have it, dear reader. Dreamcatcher is a divisive Stephen King film that has at least a handful of fans. If you have yet to experience this unorthodox adaptation, you can find the flick on Tubi now. Stay tuned to the site in the near future for more essential updates from the streaming scene.
