The #1 Movie on Hulu Is a Sci-Fi Spectacle Fans Are Calling a “Great post-apocalyptic fantasy”

For me, being a cinephile means embracing film in all of its forms. Yes, I enjoy arthouse fare, but I also dig a good escapist thriller or a low-brow comedy as long as the material is well-executed. Movies don’t always have to be high art to succeed. Sometimes, just entertaining the target audience is good enough.
I think of it like junk food. You shouldn’t subsist on potato chips and chocolate bars alone, but imagine how much less exciting life would be if you only ate health food. Cinema is no different, meaning that taking in a well-balanced complement of media keeps things interesting.
If you’re due to watch a film that some might suggest belongs on the junk food end of the cinematic spectrum, why not check out Paul W.S. Anderson‘s sci-fi epic In the Lost Lands on Hulu? Did I mention that Anderson’s partner and muse Milla Jovovich features in a lead role?
The setup for this fantastical effort is this:
A witch travels to the Lost Lands in search of a magical power that allows a person to transform into a werewolf.
I recognize that the setup is a bit outlandish and that this film may not be for everyone. Moreover, I acknowledge that In the Lost Lands was a complete box office disaster, only pulling in $6 million and change against an estimated budget of $55 million. However, it seems like the flick is finding its footing in the streaming space. The picture just bowed on Hulu last week, and it’s already the most watched title on the platform.
Better yet, some subscribers are having a great time with it, seeing the film for what it is, rather than what it isn’t. Keep reading for a sampling of social media reactions.
Hopefully, the sampling of social media posts above gives you an idea of what you’re in for. It sounds like the flick sets out to be a grandiose B-movie that affords its audience the chance to turn off their minds and have fun escaping into the narrative. If that setup sounds appealing, make your way over to Hulu and check the flick out.
That is just about everything that we have for you at present. Make sure to stay tuned to the site in the near future for more enticing updates from the streaming scene. Until then, if you fancy the idea of keeping up with me on social media, you can always find me on Threads as @FunWithHorror.
