Simon Dark cover! We first heard of this project at the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors NJ edition, straight from the lips of Steve Niles himself. Talk was of a horror comic, set in the DC super hero universe, starring a boy who was pieced together from the parts of other children who grows up to defend the weak as he unravels the mystery of his past.

If you’re good he’ll stay away
If you’re bad he’ll make you pay.

The song on the lips of children in a particularly dark corner of Gotham City reminds you of some horror film, but this is a different sort of tale. Gotham City is generally known as the home of one particular dark avenger who glides across the roof tops on the wings of a bat, but with the state of the world today, even the Batman can’t be everywhere. Born of pain and some unknown past tragedy, Simon Dark walks the city streets as it’s black angel. The first issue introduces us to this character, born from the mind of Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) paired with the eerie pencils of artist Scott Hampton, which assure us we are in for a wild ride. The book is quiet and creepy, slowly gripping you with a dream-like, fairy tale quality while astounding you with horrors only Hannibal Lecter could conjure. Darkman may have been horror’s first super hero, but Simon Dark picks up that mantle and runs full bore with it. Get in on the ground floor today.

DC Comic’s Simon Dark can be found at your local comic shop today. Dig the press blurb…
