Take a Bite Out of This Vicious Survival Thriller on Hulu: “You can feel the animal chomping on skin and bones”

Out Come the Wolves

Adam MacDonald is one of my favorite working horror filmmakers. Sure, he doesn’t have the acclaim of someone like Ari Aster or Mike Flanagan, but one look at his filmography and you’ll likely spot something you’ve not only seen, but really enjoyed. A kind of, “Hey, he made that!” Backcountry is one of the best nature attacks movies of the century (and it’s now streaming on Tubi), and Pyewacket is earnestly one of my favorite movies ever made—and it’s also streaming on SlingTV.

Adam MacDonald also regularly pulls double-duty, not only writing and directing, but also starring in his movies as well. The dude is great, is what I’m saying, and it’s always a surprise when I see he has another feature notch on his belt. Most recently, that was another nature attacks feature. Out Come the Wolves was one of last year’s best, and with its arrival on Hulu, it’s immediately shot to the top of the charts as the most-watched horror movie of the week. Learn more below:

Per Hulu: At a remote cabin deep in the wilderness, a weekend of hunting turns to mayhem and a fight for survival when a pack of wolves attack a man, his female best friend, and her fiancé.

Out Comes the Wolves is a hoot. The film was a critical success after arriving on horror streaming platform Shudder in November of 2024. It’s Adam MacDonald back where he’s at his best, pitting man versus nature with gruesome, all too realistic results.

After all, in an editorial on the film (and its parallels to Backcountry), Jenn Adams wrote, “Both films climax with shockingly brutal sequences presented in grueling close-up shots. Victims scream while animals shred their tender flesh, exposing bone in ragged wounds that spurt fresh jets of blood and drip with torn viscera. The intimate and unsteady camera confronts us with the terror of these attacks. Like the doomed characters, we lose track of logistical reality and long to escape each horrific scene.” That’s an endorsement if I’ve ever heard one.

Online, Hulu audiences have also been enjoying Out Come the Wolves quite a bit. Check out some choice social reactions on the film below:
