‘The Other’ Director Paul Etheredge and Producer Jeffrey Reddick On Their Twisty New Horror Film

Paul Etheredge (writer/director of Hellbent) and Jeffrey Reddick (creator of Final Destination) are pillars of queer horror. They took massive risks early in their careers, especially when it came to being publicly out, and have left their indelible mark on the genre. Over two decades have passed since the release of Etheredge’s Hellbent, and he’s now partnering with Reddick on his new film, The Other, Etheredge’s first feature film since 2009.

In the film:

After years of infertility, Robin and Daniel adopt Kathelia, a mute orphan with a dark past. But their dream turns to horror as eerie events unfold and Kathelia’s behavior grows unsettling. As an evil force takes hold, they must fight for their family—and their survival.

We spoke with Etheredge and Reddick about navigating their latest film, their legacy in queer horror, and much more.
