Netflix Will Soon Lose This Gritty, Patriotic Clint Eastwood Thriller With A Star-Studded Cast

Finding quality content to stream can be rough, especially when you finally decide what you want to watch only to realize you’ve missed your window to actually do so. In the hopes of sparing you such an unpleasant fate, we are here to sound the alarm regarding a celebrated Clint Eastwood film that is leaving Netflix soon. The picture in question is none other than American Sniper.
That’s right, Eastwood’s gritty portrait of war and its lasting effects on the human psyche is, in fact, leaving Netflix imminently. Your last day to watch this intense and patriotic picture on the platform is June 20. Removal is slated for June 21st!

Decorated filmmaker Eastwood directs American Sniper from a screenplay by Jason Hall. Hall’s script is adapted from the memoir of the same name by Chris Kyle. Kyle, a decorated military man, penned the tome with assistance from Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice. The book (and the film) recall Kyle’s experience as a sharpshooter and Navy SEAL.
Eastwood’s screen rendering of Kyle’s memoir scored a total of six nominations at the 87th Academy Awards, ultimately taking home the statuette for Best Achievement in Sound Editing. The flick was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Achievement in Film Editing, and Best Achievement in Sound Editing.
The setup for this gritty war thriller goes as follows: U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) takes his sole mission — protect his comrades — to heart and becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history. His pinpoint accuracy not only saves countless lives but also makes him a prime target of insurgents. Despite grave danger and his struggle to be a good husband and father to his family back in the States, Kyle serves four tours of duty in Iraq. However, when he finally returns home, he finds that he cannot leave the war behind.
So, now that you know that the poignant, patriotic war thriller American Sniper is gearing up to leave Netflix on June 21, we hope you will make necessary arrangements should you need to squeeze in a viewing prior.
