This Supremely Terrifying Horror Movie Guaranteed to Ruin Your Day Is Now Free to Stream

The Lodge

There are horror films that wear their intentions on their sleeve and then there are those that lure viewers in with a false sense of security only to repeatedly devastate the unsuspecting at every turn. The 2019 horror film The Lodge falls squarely into the latter category.

This picture melds themes of grief, religious trauma, and isolation, serving up a cinematic cocktail that is unpredictable, shocking, and often tough to watch. Similar to Hereditary before it, The Lodge just continues to deliver blows until the viewer is beaten to a bloody pulp.

If the promise of total cinematic devastation has piqued your curiosity, you may be interested to know that The Lodge is presently available to stream on Tubi.

While we are dropping knowledge, you may be equally interested to learn that the film features a descendant of none other than Elvis Presley in a lead role. That’s right, core character Grace is played by actor Riley Keough, who just so happens to be the daughter of Elvis’ only child, Lisa Marie Presley.

Despite her famous pedigree, Keough is not your typical nepo baby. She is a versatile thespian capable of assimilating to almost any role. Keough demonstrates great range here as she seemingly effortlessly conveys a variety of very different emotions over the course of this harrowing affair.

The setup for The Lodge plays out as follows: During a family retreat to a remote winter cabin over the holidays, Richard (Richard Armitage) is forced to abruptly depart for work, leaving his two children, Aiden and Mia (Jaeden Martell and Lia McHugh), in the care of his new girlfriend, Grace (Keough). Isolated and alone, a blizzard traps them inside the lodge as terrifying events summon specters from Grace’s dark past.

Sergio Casci, Veronika Franz, and Severin Fiala co-wrote this unsettling effort. In addition to co-writing, Franz and Fiala also helmed the project.

So, now you know that the 2019 horror film The Lodge, which will undoubtedly devastate the unsuspecting, is currently available to stream on Tubi. If you’re a glutton for punishment, you know just what to do from here.
