Mike Flanagan is a horror maestro, especially when it comes to bringing the literary works of Stephen King to life on screen. Now he’s tackling Carrie in an eight-episode series adaptation for Amazon. While the principal cast was already announced, we’ve now learned about the cast of recurring characters appearing on the show, including quite a few Flanagan regulars.

Kate Siegel, Michael Trucco (Hush), Katee Sackhoff (Oculus), Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass), Crystal Balint (The Fall Of The House Of Usher), and Danielle Klaudt (The Fall Of The House Of Usher), who have all collaborated with Flanagan in the past, will appear in Carrie. But that’s not all!

Heather Graham will also play a role in the series, along with Tim Bagley (Grace and Frankie), Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica), Mapuana Makia (Doogie Kamealoha M.D.), Naika Toussaint (Van Helsing), Delainey Hayles (Interview with the Vampire), Cassandra Naud (Influencer), and newcomer Rowan Danielle.

It was previously announced that Summer H. Howell will star as Carrie White, with Samantha Sloyan taking up the mantle as her deranged mother. Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Thalia Dudek, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Joel Oulette, Matthew Lillard, and Amber Midthunder were also previously announced cast members.

A History of Carrie

Carrie was Stephen King’s first novel, published in 1974, and established him as a prominent voice in horror. This was famously the book that Tabitha King pulled out of the trash and told her husband to keep working on. Brian De Palma directed the 1976 film adaptation, which starred Sissy Spacek as Carrie and Piper Laurie as her mother, Margaret White. Since then, there has been a 2013 reboot starring Chloe Grace Moretz, a sequel titled The Rage: Carrie 2, and a 2002 TV movie.

The story is centered on Carrie White, a teenage girl with telekinetic powers who is bullied both at school by her peers and at home by her religious zealot mother. A social outcast to other teens and a beacon of sin to her mother, Carrie’s rage builds and builds until a prom day prank pushes her over the edge and into outright violence.

Flanagan will serve as executive producer, writer, and showrunner for all eight episodes of Carrie. He’ll also direct select episodes.
